RESEARCH & RESULTS
The Hill School of Wilmington is an affiliate of the Hill Center in Durham, NC, which was founded in 1977 and is one of the Southeast's oldest and largest K - 12 schools for high potential students with learning disabilities and/or attention deficit disorder. Over 95% of The Hill Center's high school graduates go on to college, compared to the national rate of 40%. The average student gains full benefits of Hill within 3 years and typically transitions back to his or her school full-time.

Durham's Hill Center has documented its success in several studies, including partnership projects with RTI International.
Developed and refined over 35 years, the Hill Methodology is a research-based instructional approach with proven success.

An independent analysis of ten years of student achievement data found that, regardless of gender, race/ethnicity, or type of disability, students enrolled at The Hill Center showed significant improvement in achievement scores. Improvement was greater than would normally be expected from their peers without a diagnosed learning difference.
-
Independent, third party evaluations based on Hill Reading Achievement Program (HillRAP) implementation in four North Carolina public school districts between 2003 and 2012 demonstrated positive impacts on student achievement and growth in reading. These results suggest that HillRAP is likely to have a positive impact for high-need public school students, including students with disabilities, those who have failed or are at risk for failing, and English language learners.
